Twilight Sparkle is a unicorn pony and the main character of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. After the events of the first episode she moves from Canterlot to Ponyville in order to continue the study of friendship under Princess Celestia's tutelage and regularly maintains correspondence with the Princess. She lives at the Golden Oaks Library along with her assistant Spike and her pet owl Owlowiscious. She has an older brother named Shining Armor who is introduced in the two-part finale of the second season. Shining Armor marries Twilight's former foalsitter Princess Cadance who inducts Twilight into royalty; she is listed as royalty on trading cards of Cadance and Shining Armor. She represents the element of magic.
A month ago we
reported that a new DVD release of
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic from Shout! Factory had been listed for
April 30th by Amazon.com, and that the big e-tailer was (and is, at the time of this writing) showing the DVD's title as "
April." Now Amazon's
pre-order listing has added package art to the entry, and you can see that below. If you scan to the bottom of the box cover, you'll spot that the title on display isn't "
April" after all, but rather is "
Princess Twilight Sparkle." Is that the right title? Shout! hasn't formally announced this item yet, so we don't have official studio word one way or the other. But it makes sense given the studio-provided description quoted above. Plus on top of that another online retailer, DVDEmpire, has
a pre-order listing of a Shout! Factory title from this show for the exact same date and list price, and the title there is worded in a slightly different order...but it's pretty darn close to what the box art says: "
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Twilight Sparkle Princess." So "
April" is probably just a mis-step on Amazon's part, and one we're sure they'll fix up soon enough. In the meantime, here's that box art:
