That picture just says it all, doesn't it?
My Little Pony - Season 1, Part 1 is coming to DVD from our friends at Rhino. Mind you, it's a bit of a surprise to us, as we had no heads-up that this was coming. In fact, we still haven't gotten a formal announcement from the distributor; the picture you see (and all other details) come from an advertisement in the latest issue of
Video Business trade magazine.
As you can see in the starburst (which we streamlined to remove some retailer-only info, like the order cut-off date), the price on this 4-DVD set is $59.95 SRP. It arrives in stores on
October 26th.
Look forward to the set to include the following:
- 24 original, uncut episodes from the 1980s classic animated series
- The original pilot episode
- The My Little Pony Special
Rhino is betting on the idea that this is a collection that moms will remember and want to share with their daughters. Toward that end, look for some high-profile advertising in publications like
US, In Touch, The Globe, The Sun, and
The National Examiner. Also look for radio promos in selected markets and an internet campaign.
Well, I guess we just got the ball rolling on that last item, eh?
