Late in September, Warner Home Video issued
a press release announcing that
Life Unexpected - The Complete 1st Season would come to DVD on January 4th. However, today retailers have been informed by the studio that they are instead going to postpone the release of this title, and hold it back until later in the year, when they can put it out along with the show's second season.
That sophomore year is close to wrapping up on The CW, because earlier this month the network announced that they were cutting this season's episode order from 22 episodes to 13 due to low ratings. No official notice of cancellation has been seen by The CW, but folks in the industry are already expecting that this is what the order reduction means. Warner's notice to retailers certain seems to make it sound what we'll see on DVD might turn out to be "
Life Unexpected - The Complete Series." Here's the studio's exact text to retailers:
Please note, Life Unexpected: The Complete First Season has been cancelled [sic] for a Jan 4, 2011 release date, but we will release this title later in 2011 along with Season 2. Details for the combined release will be announced once all information regarding the release has been confirmed.
Stay tuned and we'll keep you updated about that "combined" DVD release, whenever more official information becomes available.
