The sharpest crime drama on television boogies to a classic '70s beat when a 2008 car accident mysteriously sends detective Sam Tyler back in time. Jason O'Mara, Michael Imperioli, Gretchen Mol, Jonathan Murphy, and Harvey Keitel star in an edgy and intriguing mystery with a killer cast.
The
recently-canceled ABC series will get a DVD release when
Life on Mars - The Complete Series comes out from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment on
September 29. The only other information available so far is that the price will be $39.99 SRP, but stay tuned for package art and other updates (it could even be later today, but we're not sure).
And for those of you interested in the original U.K. series that this was based on (starring John Simm), don't forget that Acorn Media is releasing a
Series 1 DVD set of it on July 28th. You can read all the details about it

listed at Amazon, who should begin taking pre-orders for it pretty soon.
UPDATE: We were right: we didn't have to wait 35 years to get an update, as Disney sent us more material about this release a short time ago. They've told us that this will be a 4-disc set with 17 episodes, running approximately 731 minutes long. DVD supplements will include 4 featurettes:
- A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Life on Mars Concept
- Learn About the Design and Styles of the 1970s Wardrobe
- The 1970 Perspective: Police Procedure and Precincts
- Behind-the-Scenes with a Special Guest
