In early March, we brought you Acorn Media's
announcement for their
July 28th DVD release of the original U.K. version of
Life on Mars - Series 1 (more info
here). At the time we passed along to you Acorn's word that they had the "
second and final series being planned for release in 2010." But the great news is that fans won't actually have to wait that long to get the rest of the brilliant episodes starring John Simm (
State of Play, Doctor Who)!
A new
pre-order listing at Amazon shows that you'll be able to get
Life on Mars - Series 2 from Acorn Media before the end of the year:
November 24th, to be exact. That's the week of Thanksgiving in the USA, so this is perfectly timed for holiday gift-giving. The cost of the 4-disc set, containing all eight remaining episodes, is $59.99 SRP (but you can lock in your copy at a nice discount, using the above link).
No cover art or other details are available yet for
Series 2 but stay tuned. If you haven't
pre-ordered the Series 1 set (below) from Acorn by now, be sure to do so; it's a terrific show. And, if you want to compare it to
the American version of the show, starring Jason O'Mara, Harvey Keitel, Michael Imperioli and Gretchen Mol, then you can expect that to ship from ABC/Disney at the end of September. Note that the UK and USA shows each have quite a different ending to them...so if you've seen one and not the other, don't think you know how the other version concludes!
