Just a couple of weeks after Ten-Strike Home Entertainment's announcement that they had aquired the home video rights to the PBS show
Liberty's Kids, they have already come forward with 3 different titles that are planned for release in late June.
Liberty's Kids tells the story of the American Revolution through the eyes of two young apprentice journalists working in Benjamin Franklin's print shop in Philadelphia. This award-winning series is filled with action, excitement and drama and takes child and parent alike through a revolution borne of a single glorious ideal-freedom. The show debuted to critical acclaim in the U.S. on PBS in 2002, following the history of the American Revolution and combining powerful storytelling and stylish traditional animation with an A-List roster of celebrity voices who bring heroes and values to life. The cast is led by Walter Cronkite, who stars in each episode as Benjamin Franklin, and includes Michael Douglas (Patrick Henry), Warren Buffett (James Madison), Dustin Hoffman (Benedict Arnold), Whoopi Goldberg (Deborah Samson), Billy Crystal (John Adams), Annette Bening (Abigail Adams), Arnold Schwarzenegger (Baron von Steuben), Ben Stiller (Thomas Jefferson), Maria Shriver (Peggy Shippen), Liam Neeson (John Paul Jones) and Sylvester Stallone (Paul Revere). The title song is performed by teen superstar Aaron Carter.
June 29th - the Tuesday before the Independence Day holiday - will see the following 3 titles released to DVD:
- The Boston Tea Party (the pilot episode)
- Give Me Liberty
- The First 4th of July
SRP is $14.99 for each title. Ten-Strike's April 20th press release, which can be read in full by
clicking here, mentions plans to feature extras, including interviews with pioneer newscaster Mr. Cronkite, behind-the-scenes footage, cast information and interactive games, providing fun while affording kids the opportunity to learn about one of the most important milestones in American history. Other bonus content includes Liberty News Network, star photos, and pencil test. Plus, as an added incentive, there will be five free collectible cards featuring Revolutionary War heroes inside each DVD package. Finally, there will be a chance to win a family trip to historic Boston.
