On the third and last season of the original 70's version of
Land of the Lost, Spencer Milligan departed the show, and so the father-figure of Rick Marshall was no longer around. This led to the introduction of Ron Harper as Will and Holly's Uncle Jack, and a new theme song for the series:
Will and Holly Marshall, as the Earth beneath them trembled,
Lost their father through the door of time!
Uncle Jack went searching, and found those kids at last.
Looking for a way to escape...from the Land of the Lost!
After a pair of fun, good-looking DVD releases for the first two seasons, fans are waiting with baited breath for the final season of the original run of the show. Thanks to "Rob," who posted a note about the Home Theater Forum discussion website about this that tipped us off, we saw a question
posted to the LandOfTheLost.com message board asking "Any word on when we can expect Season Three?." It was followed by an answer from someone else at the message board who said, "March 8th, 2005 is the word I've been getting."
To be honest, that sounded really really quick to us, considering that we're closing in on that timeframe, and no official word had come from Rhino just yet. So we checked with Rhino on this, and asked them what the timeframe looked like. Rhino's reply was "I would (say) that it is coming
in the Spring, likely May, 2005." They made it clear that no final date had been decided upon yet. It's not too far away, though.
Our apologies to the fellow on the message board at LandOfTheLost.com who said differently, but we're sure he and all the other fans (myself included!) are glad to know what the actual expectation is. Stay tuned, and we'll have the official announcement along with the cover art just as soon as that's released.
