In the wake of high interest in
The Land of the Lost - The Complete 1st Season, we asked Rhino Home Video how soon it would be for Season 2's arrival? Rhino gave us a terrific answer, that will also be of interest to fans of Sid & Marty Krofft in general:
Land Of The Lost 2 = 9/28/04
You can tell your loyal fans that based on sales of Pufnstuf & Land Of The Lost, we'll be making a decision on Bugaloos & Lidsville.
Wow, awesome! Okay, if you're fans of
The Bugaloos and/or
Lidsville, or just the Krofft shows in general, then you know what you have to do: go support the existing releases, and encourage your friends to support it, too. If you're like me, a parent now who grew up watching this stuff, then there's nothing more magical than sharing it with your kid(s) and watching them enjoy it, too! If you don't have any children, then just indulge yourself anyway; it's great nostalgia. And thanks for the inside tip on the upcoming stuff, Rhino...we appreciate it!
Speaking of inside stuff, how about an Easter Egg (or three) for Season 1? Ron Lee Green
posted this info at the Home Theater Forum website, and it works very well:
- Go to the Main Menu
- Go to the Episode Index.
- On Disc 1 choose "Downstream"
- On Disc 2 choose "Possession"
- On Disc 3 choose "Hurricane"
- Press Scenes
- Go to the bottom center
- Press the down arrow key, and keep re-pressing it until the episode title at the top becomes highlighted and turns green.
- Press Enter on the remote
- There will be a hidden interview with Story Editor/Writer David Gerrold
Very nice, and Gerrold tells some terrific stories all through that set. And why not? He's an award-winning storyteller, well-known since he broke into the business in a BIG way by writing the script for "The Trouble With Tribbles," the most popular episode of
Star Trek ever.
Fans of David Gerrold will be in for a special treat soon. We have recorded an interview with Gerrold, in which he discusses his career, his influences, his current and upcoming projects, and of course DVDs for TV shows he's written for...and lots more!
Star Trek comes up, of course, including
The Animated Series, The Next Generation, and
Deep Space Nine. But it's the
Land of the Lost we talk about the most, considering that the interview was conducted on the day
The Complete 1st Season was released. Some of what he says provides interesting additional information to stories he tells on the DVD set.
This is a very long interview, and Gerrold pulls no punches here. We're still doing spit-and-polish on it: prepping and formatting it for publication on our site. TVShowsOnDVD will be posting it in the very near future, though, probably in three parts. It's a stunning article that will be fascinating to anyone interested in the workings of the TV industry from a writer's point of view, science fiction in general, or the passions that bring out the tender side of a self-proclaimed curmudgeon. We'll let you know when we've got it posted...watch for it!
