Beautiful, embittered Lili (Phoebe Cates) has clawed her way from porno princess to international film idol. She has money, fame, everything she wants - everything except revenge. Abandoned as a baby, Lili is determined to find, and destroy, her long-lost mother. She's narrowed the candidate list down to three former boarding-school friends, all of whom have gone on to exciting and privileged lives. And one of whom is about to be very, very sorry she left little Lili all those years ago. A starry cast sweeps through two and a half decades of exquisite excess in this high-fashion, high-drama, utterly delicious emotional wallow based on Shirley Conran's bestseller. Sharpen your claws.
The original 1984 mini-series Lace, produced by Lorimar and broadcast on ABC, is now available to pre-order, with a ship date beginning in two days, on January 21st. This is not sold in stores, but is coming from the Warner Archive as an MOD (manufacture-on-demand) DVD. The 2-episode production arrives on 2 discs, running 240 minutes and will be presented in full screen video and English mono audio. Cost is $19.95, and like all MOD titles is is only available to ship to addresses in the United States due to legal restrictions. Note that the sequel mini-series, Lace II, is also listed at the Warner Archive (please see our separate news post). Our thanks to Bill Jankowski for his assistance with this story.
