A few days ago we unfortunately brought you
this story, passing along a report from The Digital Bits. That site reported that
"Warner has just cancelled (until further notice) the release of La Femme Nikita: The Complete Second Season, which had been slated for 7/20."
Since then we've gotten a small flood of e-mail from readers who wanted confirmation that this is true. Some said they had already seen it for sale (at stores who had broken street date, no doubt), other e-mails were from salespeople who said they had their stock in the backroom, but hadn't received a recall notice yet. Best Buy, I'm told, is featuring the item in their sales flyer next week.
Well, hold up on all of that. Warner Brothers has confirmed the delay of
La Femme Nikita - The Complete 2nd Season. Here are the relevent portions of the memo we received late this afternoon:

has been delayed by Warner Home Video
Please be advised that the DVD release of La Femme Nikita: The
Complete Second Season, which was scheduled for July 20, 2004, has
been delayed until further notice due to unforeseen circumstances.

The rest of the notice is a reminder to reviewers that any review must be held back from publication, since the set is not being released at this time. It also reminds them that they cannot sell or transfer ownership of their review copies without violating their agreement with the studio.
And for now, that's that. If anyone reading this manages to get their hands on a copy of it, then you're lucky. Warner has not revealed the reason for this hold-up, nor given any indication as to whether we can expect it to return to the schedule at some point.
