La Femme Nikita fans at TVShowsOnDVD know very well, it's been
something of a struggle to get the 2nd season of the show released onto DVD. But everyone perservered, and finally the
Complete 2nd Season box set was
announced for a July 20th release...just a week from today!
Now we've gotten word from readers like Valerie Litts, who inform us that our friends at The Digital Bits website have
a new report today that snatches defeat from the jaws of victory:
We've got some breaking news that's gonna bum out you La Femme Nikita fans. Warner has just cancelled (until further notice) the release of La Femme Nikita: The Complete Second Season, which had been slated for 7/20. There's no word on exactly why this happened, although we suspect a legal snafu. Warner's message to retailers states only: "unforeseen circumstances have prevented this title from being released." We'll keep you up to date as we learn more.
We realize that this would be a bitter disappontment to the fans of the show, and we are trying to get in touch with Warner Home Video to verify the story personally (and try to get more details). In the meantime, I CAN tell you that the release seems to have been deleted from Warner's media system, with nary a trace. It looks like the folks at Section One are at it again, making things disappear.
We'll get back to you just as soon as possible with an update on this story. For now, though, we're changing the release date
at the release listing to "TBA." Stay tuned...
