The other day we brought you Disney's long-awaited
announcement for the DVD release of
Kyle XY - The Complete 2nd Season: Revelations, coming out on
December 30th. The announcement info we posted included some material aimed at press, and some material sent to retailers, and we combined it all into one big piece to cover as much ground as possible. The "synopsis" that was sent to retailers talked about how fans would "
Experience 13 episodes on three discs." But info on both sides showed a running time 994 minutes, which wouldn't fit on only three discs. Also, a 994 minute running time should cover the entire season of 23 episodes. What's going on?
We've found out that the text of the synopsis, and the half-season count of discs and episodes in it, was actually obsolete information. Apparently Disney's original plan was to release two half-season sets, a "2.0" package and later on a separate "2.1" title. Disney scrapped that plan, though, and as you can infer from the title shown on the package art, this will indeed be
The Complete 2nd Season. A sell sheet provided to retailers now shows the correct info, and we've got that sell sheet pictured at the bottom of this story. Near the bonus material area, you can see that it mentions that this will be a "6-Disc Box Set" with "23 episodes."
The original info also mentioned a bonus item titled "Facing the Future," described as a preview of the "2.1 season" episodes. The sell sheet still shows that this item is included among the extras, but doesn't get into any detail. Will it still be about the last ten episodes of the second season, or will it instead be a peek into the upcoming third season of the show? We're not sure yet, but we'll keep an eye on it. The sell sheet also shows one additional featurette that wasn't mentioned in the previous info: "The Science of
Kyle XY." Sounds fascinating; we can't wait to check it out!
Here's a pre-order link at Amazon for this release, followed by the package art we've previously shown you, and a look at the retailer-aimed sell sheet that we've been describing today. Our thanks to all the readers - and there have been a lot of you! - who wrote in to ask about and help us figure out about this confusion. We're glad to have gotten it figured out!
