Krod Mandoon and The Flaming Sword of Fire, Comedy Central's first foray into the action-adventure fantasy realm, chronicles the deeds of the brave but emotionally insecure Krod and his ineffectual band of freedom fighters - Aneka, the lovely warrioress who uses her beauty (and body) to get she wants; Zezelryck, the sorcerer who's more mouth than magic; Loquasto, Krod's dim-witted (and poorly-shooting) servant; and Bruce, known more for his extravagant outfits than his prowess in battle - in their struggle against the evil Chancellor Dongalor (Matt Lucas, Little Britain USA).
This past August we
reported that an Amazon pre-order listing had shown up, providing a November 10, 2009 release date for Comedy Central's
Krod Mandoon And The Flaming Sword Of Fire on DVD. But as that date approached last month, we
followed up with new info: that fans who had placed an advance order for the release were getting e-mails from Amazon that the title had been pulled, and their order was canceled. During that entire time, neither Comedy Central nor distributor Paramount Home Entertainment had ever actually announced this item for release.
Today, though, we've got word that will make all the fans of this show happy again! Paramount has formally put
Krod Mandoon And The Flaming Sword Of Fire DVDs on their schedule, for official release on
March 23, 2010. Running time given is 162 minutes (a bit more than the "140 minutes" on the previous, currently defunct Amazon listing). Video is listed as widescreen, and audio as English Stereo. Pricing and package art isn't available so far, but stay tuned for that. In the meantime, Below is a list of the bonus material for this set. It's a copy-and-paste of the studio info, and some of the wording (notably on the last item) sounds a bit strange, but we expect it will make more sense when the discs are in-hand. Here's how Paramount puts it:
- Additional Scenes: Behind the Scenes with Kevin Hart
- Interview: Cast Interviews
- Bloopers: Outtakes
- Featurette: Alternate Opening Sequence
- Additional Scenes: Deleted Scenes
- Additional Scenes: Extended Scenes
- Easter Eggs: Hunt the Hungarian ON/OFF
