Variety is
reporting today that NBC is taking
Kings - starring Ian McShane (
Deadwood, Lovejoy), Christopher Egan (
Vanished) and Susanna Thompson (
Once and Again, Star Trek: Voyager) - out of its plum Sunday evening slot, and banishing it to a not-so-plum Saturday evening slot, where the remaining episodes will air. Since Saturday evenings are considered the "graveyard" for primetime television, the insinuation is that this could be "checkmate" for
Kings, before canceling the show completely. NBC hasn't said that yet, though...right now they're just moving it.
However, whether the set eventually gets labeled "
Kings - The Complete Series" or stays with the current title of "
Kings - Season 1," fans will be glad to know that a DVD release is already
up for pre-order at Amazon.com! No release date or product details are given, nor is there official package art yet. There's a temp graphic included, taken from NBC's promotional campaign for the program, and a notice that says "
This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." So the only info otherwise included is the cost: $34.98 SRP, and a current discount down to $24.49 if you lock it in right away (prices are subject to change at Amazon's discretion, without notice). Universal Studios hasn't announced the title yet, nor do our retail contacts have any further info at this time. Stay tuned, though, and we'll update you as more becomes available!
