Kenny vs. Spenny - The First Comedy Central Season, with Co-Exec Producers Matt & Trey, Announced for DVD

Announced for USA release in August, but Canadians probably call this 'Season 4'

Posted by David Lambert
Comedy Central pits best friends against each other in "Kenny Vs. Spenny," the series created by and starring Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice. "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker join the team as executive producers.

"Kenny Vs. Spenny" is a provocative reality/comedy series in which two childhood friends battle each other in outrageous competitions. See what happens when two "adults" stop at nothing to humiliate, sabotage and one-up each other in their never-ending quest for juvenile supremacy.

Watch Kenny and Spenny put themselves in foolishly awkward and embarrassing situations that are unthinkable to the rational person. Reality TV meets insanity TV in "Kenny Vs. Spenny" - the show that offers a surprisingly clever, comedic take on the age-old struggle of Good versus Evil.
The TV series Kenny vs. Spenny first began airing in Canada back in 2003, and by Nov. 2005 we saw a DVD release of the first Canadian season, and since then the second and third seasons have been released up north as well. With the fourth season of the show, South Park honchos Matt Stone and Trey Parker (who were mentioned as being big fans of the series since our own Gord Lacey interviewed Kenny and Spenny back in '05) joined up as Co-Executive Producers on the program, and Comedy Central began airing it in the United States.

This morning Comedy Central and Paramount Home Entertainment announced the August 12th DVD release of "Comedy Central’s Kenny vs. Spenny - Season One: Uncensored." Despite saying "Season 1" in the title, there are actually several indications that this is going to be the episodes from what is properly called the 4th production season of the show. The most obvious hint for that are extras with deleted scenes from the fourth season episodes "Who Can Make the Best Viral Video" and "Who Can Be Obese the Longest." So this is really Season 4, but the first "Comedy Central" season (which is how they decided on using this title for the DVDs, we suppose).

There are 10 episodes in this season. Video is full screen, and audio is English Dolby Digital. Extras include the above-mentioned deleted scenes from two episodes, additional scenes "Kenny plays dress up with his goat" and "Spenny takes the goat to the dentist," Audio Commentary Tracks, and also several featurettes: "Kenny answers fan mail," "Kenny and Spenny reflect on past competitions," "Kenny and Spenny's hot mix," "Who can pick the biggest booger?" and "Kenny and Spenny: Men on the Street." Box art isn't available yet, but stay tuned!
