February 14th (yep...Valentine's Day) sees the release of Nell Carter's
Gimme a Break! - Season 1 on DVD. So what's this got to do with
Kate & Allie? A good question! Yesterday Universal Studios Home Entertainment
announced the extras for
Gimme a Break!, and one of the extras is a bonus episode of
Kate & Allie!
We checked
Poobala.com's Crossovers & Spin-Offs Master List to see if there had ever been a cross-over between these two shows, and could not find anything there. So we're not sure why Universal opted to do this, other than a general theme of "80's Sitcoms" and possibly to test the waters for a separate
Kate & Allie release later on. But we wanted to let you know that this was out there, so if you're a fan of the 1984 Jane Curtain/Susan St. James series and are on the fence about getting
Gimme a Break!, then this should help you make up your mind.
We're not sure which episode of
Kate & Allie will be the one included as the bonus item on this release, but stay tuned and we'll let you know if we find out prior to the ship date.
