Late last week we talked about the aspect ratio debate for upcoming season sets of Justice League. The show originally aired in full frame, along with an encore airing in Widescreen later in the week. We started receiving emails shortly after the announcement of the first season because it was announced with Full Frame (1.33:1) video. Bruce Timm has said he prefers the widescreen versions of the season 1 episodes, and fans seem to be somewhat split on the issue. The second season of the show was only broadcast in widescreen, but Timm said that the second season was being prepped with Full Frame episodes, instead of the widescreen (1.78:1) versions. We contacted Warner Bros last week and they've been keeping us updated with their internal discussions.
Earlier today (about an hour ago), our Warner rep called to let us know that they're going ahead with the Full Frame (1.33:1) transfers for season 1, but other seasons will be widescreen. This may upset some fans that were hoping for widescreen versions of season 1, but it was a tough choice, especially since many fans seem divided on the issue and the sets were already being worked on.
Thumbs up to Warner Bros for providing answers so quickly.
