Several weeks ago we
reported that
Justice League - The Complete Series would be coming out as a 15-DVD collection from Warner Home Video, available to own on
November 10th. In our write-up at the time we told readers this: "
We know...about the controversy that exists with many fans over whether this series should be available on home video in full screen or widescreen video format. The current information from the studio is that this new release will be entirely in full screen video." But now we've got different information, coming straight from the packaging!
An alert reader, "Jeremy", spotted the rear cover art for this release recently added to the title's Amazon pre-order listing (see button link below), and tipped us off to the info shown on the back of the box. We got a high-res version of that image for that from the studio's password-protected press site, and confirmed that it's identical to what's seen at Amazon. According to it, this release will present
Justice League - Season 1 (discs 1-4) in 1.33:1 full screen ("standard" in Warner-speak), but both
Justice League - Season 2 (discs 5-8) and the entire run of
Justice League Unlimited (discs 9-14) will be presented in a matted Widescreen video format. The two
JLU seasons will be anamorphic widescreen (given a sharper, higher-resolution picture on widescreen TVs), but the
JL-S2 episodes are "letterbox" (non-anamoprhic) widescreen.
Below we have a crop of the "specs" portion of the
Justice League - The Complete Series rear box art, using as large a picture as our site's structure will allow. Below that is the entire rear package image, followed by the same front shot which we've previously displayed. Hopefully this answers everybody's questions:
