This seven-hour set includes all four feature-length specials, including two never seen on US TV!
The BBC and distributor Warner Home Video have today announced that
Jonathan Creek - The Specials will come to DVD in North America, slated to ship on
October 19th. This 2-disc set running 406 minutes will cost $29.98 SRP. Guest stars include Paul McGann ("The 8th Doctor,"
Doctor Who; Alien³), Rik Mayall (
The Young Ones; Bottom) and Judy Parfitt (
Jewel in the Crown; The Charmings). Here's a list of the 4 included specials, followed by the package cover:
- "Black Canary" (1998): The famous female illusionist known as The Black Canary is found dead in her rambling mansion. For Jonathan, an encounter with both an old flame and the swashbuckling Detective Inspector Gideon Pryke (Rik Mayall) adds even more spice to an already baffling enigma.
- "Satan's Chimney" (2001): When an actress is murdered on the set of her latest movie, Jonathan Creek is called upon to explain how the killer managed to fire a gun through a plate glass window without breaking it.
- "The Grinning Man" (2009): Stage musician Lance Gessler lives in a mansion known as Metropolis that has a deadly history. When another victim succumbs to an ominous presence in the attic room, it's up the Jonathan to unravel the mystery. US premiere!
- "The Judas Tree" (2010): Jonathan Creek is called upon by his friend and skeptic Joey to investigate a series of mysterious and spooky events at a house called Green Lanterns. US premiere!
