At the beginning of this month we
reported that Warner Home Video had announced the first entry in the "Cartoon Network Hall of Fame" lineup, and that it would be the long-awaited
Johnny Bravo - Season 1 DVD. The release date provided by the studio was March 9th...a date that was later reflected in Amazon's pre-order listing that was added a few days later (see button link below). The following week Warner's password-protected press site even provided full-sized package art, which is seen at bottom.
Over this past weekend, however, Amazon updated their listing to show a new ship date, April 6th, and sent an e-mail to customers who had placed pre-orders to alert them to the change in plans. We tried to confirm this on Monday at Warner's press site, but found that the entry there had been entirely removed for now. We quickly checked in with our contacts at the studio, and found out the reason: the announcement was premature, because the street date had been incorrect. It's still coming, but not in March. And not even in April (as currently shown at Amazon). Our contact informs us that the correct release date is in fact
May 11th, and that the title will be re-announced to press and retailers at a time appropriate to that schedule.
So never fear, because
Johnny Bravo - Season 1 is still on the way to DVD. Just a couple of months later than we had thought. Whoa, mamma!
