Around Thanksgiving-time last November, we
let you know that Amazon.com was already taking pre-orders for an eventual Blu-ray Disc release of the Emmy Award-winning mini-series
John Adams. There was no release date provided, though, for the high-def version of HBO's highly acclaimed production...just a $79.98 list price that was - and is - available to lock in from Amazon at a discount (see button link below).
This morning HBO and distributor Warner Home Video have formally announced the Blu-ray Disc release of
John Adams for
June 16th. That turns out to be the same date we had previously reported for
the Blu-ray of HBO's Generation Kill mini-series, by the way. The cost Amazon has had was confirmed for this set of 3 "BD-50" discs. All 7 episodes of the production will be presented in high-def 1080p video, with DTS-HD Master Audio sound. You'll get all the bonus material from last summer's standard DVD version, plus new supplements exclusive to the Blu-ray edition: a "Facts Are Stubborn Things" featurette and "Who's Who in History." Here's a look at the packaging:
