LOS ANGELES, CA - "
The Job," the critically-acclaimed, single-camera comedy series, created by cutting-edge actor-comedian Denis Leary (
The Thomas Crown Affair, "
Rescue Me") and Emmy Award-winning writer Peter Tolan ("
The Larry Sanders Show"), goes back on duty for Shout! Factory's DVD release. Produced by DreamWorks Television and Touchstone Television in association with Apostle and The Cloudland Company, "
The Job" was shot entirely on location in New York, and stars Leary as flawed anti-hero Mike McNeil, a decorated New York City detective whose toughest assignment is often himself. The 4-disc DVD set includes the entire series -- all 19 half-hour episodes which originally aired on ABC -- plus new commentaries by Leary and Tolan, cast interviews, a gag reel and more.
The Job DVD set will be in stores on May 24th, for the suggested retail price of $49.98.
The Job DVD set includes the "explosively funny" (
New York Times) 19 half-hour episodes which aired over the 2001 and 2002 ABC primetime seasons. In addition, Leary and Tolan recently sat down to record five episode commentaries and an on-camera interview for the DVD bonus materials. The DVD set also includes original interviews with the eight-member ensemble cast and Tolan, and a gag reel created by the producers for the cast and crew.
"
The Job, which
USA Today calls "fall down funny and excitingly original," truly showcases Leary at his gritty, dark comedic best." As McNeil, he's a self-medicating, hard-drinking cop whose life is about to get more complicated when his girlfriend (Karyn Parsons) threatens to tell his wife (Wendy Makkena) about their ongoing relationship. Tensions always run high in the NYC precinct as McNeil's vices start to beleaguer his fellow detectives, played by Bill Nunn, Lenny Clarke, Adam Ferrara and Diane Farr. Keith David plays "Lt. Williams," a tough talking supervisor who does his best to keep his team (especially McNeil) in line. As the characters struggle with the daily indignities of the unloving, crime fighting world of New York City, these brash badges try to make the world a safer place ... or at least try to make it through another day.
