We
reported this was coming awhile ago, but today Warner Bros officially announced that they are releasing the first season of
The Jetsons on DVD. On May 11th we'll see the entire 24 episode premiere season of the show released on DVD for the first time. With a running time of 624 minutes, and boasting "dazzling translucent collectible packaging," the set will carry a suggested retail price of $64.92 for 4 discs.
The 26 episodes aren't all you'll get, as Warner Bros has a bunch of great extras lined up for the set. Janet Waldo (voice of Judy Jetson) will provide commentary on 2 episodes; "Rosie the Robot" and "A Date with Jet Streamer." A new featurette, "
The Jetsons: The Family of the Future," has been created as well as "Space Age Gadgets" and "Rosie the Robotic Maid." They're also including character bios in the form of "Nuclear Family Album." They've even closed captioned the set.
The Jetsons: Season 1 will join
The Flintstones: Season 1,
Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!: Seasons 1 & 2 (both coming March 16) and
Jonny Quest: Season 1 on the "Hanna-Barbera Golden Collection" brand name. I can't wait to see what other titles will join these 4 excellent shows.
Finally, a look at the packaging:

Thanks to Mary Catherine Headley for the info. Thanks to Keith as well for all of his help.
