MTV follows eight young adults as they move into a summer share to indulge in everything Seaside Heights, New Jersey has to offer. Jersey Shore uncovers sometimes surprising, often hilarious and usually over-the-top personalities as they juggle work, love, nightlife, friendship and the drama that ensues.
Two months ago, MTV's hot reality show came to DVD exclusively through Amazon's CreateSpace program, with the 4-disc release of
Jersey Shore - Season 1: Uncensored. It came with all 9 episodes (426 minutes) with uncensored language, plus bonus material consisting of Deleted Scenes, a Reunion Special, Tips from The Situation and Snooki, the "Before the Shore" feature and a
Jersey Shore Makeover feature with Michael Cera. All for $21.95 SRP.
Today MTV and distributor Paramount Home Entertainment announced that
Jersey Shore - Season 1 will get a general retail release this summer, timed to coincide with the broadcast debut of the program's second season. Details and pricing haven't been made available as part of today's information, so we're not absolutely certain if it will be identical to the Amazon release from this past February. We'll assume it is for now, though, and follow up with you if we find out otherwise.
The set will be available at a participating retailer near you on
July 20th. I must say that I'm not usually into this sort of reality series, but I found the first season to be extremely dramatic and enjoyable! In case you can't wait to pick it up locally, here's the link and package art once again for the Amazon CreateSpace release, which is available right away.
UPDATE: One of our retailer contacts has been in touch with us, letting us know that Paramount's solicitation document for the July release shows the same box cover design as shown below (which is the Amazon CreateSpace package). They go on to inform us that the specs and details bill the title as a 3-DVD release (Amazon's version comes on 4 discs) and says this about the extras: "
Bonus features include exclusive cast commentary, deleted scenes, tips from "The Situation" and "Snooki" and more!" Elsewhere the commentary is said to be by Snooki, The Situation & Pauly D. Pricing for the general retail release was not made available yet.
