In an effort to stop planetary hunger, Jayce's father, Audric, accidentally creates evil plants that want to consume the minerals and water on every planet they cross. The Universe's only hope is Jayce and his ragtag crew, who must travel the universe in search of his father and a way to defeat Saw Boss and his evil plant followers, the Monster Minds.
Back in 2003 we saw a single DVD release of
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, sporting 4 episodes from the show's 65-episode run. The animated series from the mid-'80s was a DiC show with production and distribution help from Saban Entertainment and SFM Entertainment. Among the names behind the show that you'll recognize are Andy Heyward (
Inspector Gadget), J. Michael Straczynski (
Babylon 5), and Haim Saban and Shuki Levy (
Power Rangers).
As we've
reported, Shout! Factory is revisiting the series on DVD at long last, with their
March 25th release of a 4-disc
Volume 1 set! Besides 720 minutes worth of show (we believe that's roughly half the program's run, but the episode count isn't available yet) you will get extras in the form of Rare Original Concept Art, the "Escape From The Garden" Pilot Script written by Haskell Barkin, and also the "Steel Against Shadow" Script written by J. Michael Straczynski (his first episode). Pricing for
Jayce & The Wheeled Warriors - Volume 1 is $34.99 SRP, and here's a look at the front cover art for you:
