Jake and the Fatman - The Fatman Returns to DVD with The 2nd Season **UPDATE: BOX ART**

The shortest season of the series comes to DVD this May

Hard as nails District attorney Jason "Fatman" McCabe strikes down on the crime in Hawaii together with his easy-going special investigator partner Jake Styles and assistant D.A. Derek Mitchell.
Right after Season 1, Volume 2 came to DVD just two months ago, a number of fans for Jake and the Fatman started wondering how soon it would be before the show's second season would get announced. Well, the set has been announced this morning, so its sophomore year prospects are much better than they were back when the program was first being broadcast!

The first season was set in Los Angeles, but was actually canceled by CBS following that initial 23-episode run. The network revived the show, however, and moved it to Hawaii, due to leftover facilities the studio was still paying for in the Aloha State for the recently-ended Magnum P.I.. The show stayed in Hawaii - with McCabe (William Conrad's Fatman) becoming a D.A. there - until the studio's lease on the facilities ran out, prompting the show to eventually move back to L.A. in the middle of the fourth season.

But the second season didn't start shooting immediately, even after the move to Hawaii was all mapped out. The 1988 Writer's Guild strike plus a resort worker's strike in the area pushed the season's start back enough so that Jake and the Fatman - The 2nd Season only ended up with 10 episodes, including a double-length season premiere (compared to 23 for the 1st season, 26 for the 3rd, 24 for the 4th, and 22 for the 5th). Note that J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Changeling) was the show's story editor in the third season, and wrote a few episodes in the third and fourth seasons as well.

All those other episodes will hopefully come to DVD in the future. For now, Jake and the Fatman - The 2nd Season is for-certain on the schedule for May 5th. The collection will run approximately 8.5 hours long, and be presented in full screen video with English Stereo 2.0 audio with closed captioning for the hearing impaired. The entire main cast came to Hawaii along with the show, plus you'll see guest stars that include Ben Piazza (The Hanging Tree, Dallas) and Michele Scarabelli (Alien Nation, Airwolf), among others. No package art is available yet, but stay tuned and we'll bring it to you just as soon as we can!

UPDATE: The studio has just provided the package art for this release, and we've got it for you now. Check it out:
