Anyone who bought MPI's recent releases of
The Beverly Hillbillies - The Ultimate Collection Volume 1 or
Petticoat Junction - The Ultimate Collection probably noticed inside of these is a catalog booklet full of MPI's releases for 2005. On the back page is a list of items "Coming Soon," and fans of Jackie Gleason couldn't help but notice these two lines sandwiched in between the titles of two classic films:
One line says "Honeymooners Collection 1 (in color)" and the next line says "The Jackie Gleason Show." Since the 1966 incarnation of the
The Jackie Gleason Show was the source of the color episodes of
The Honeymooners, we talked to someone at MPI to find out what the exact situation was. They cleared it up by explaining that the focus is on the color
Honeymooners episodes, and that we can expect to see this in the middle of 2006, probably in June if all goes well. This is indeed a "Volume 1" release, so more should follow. Stay tuned for details once everything has been finalized and announced.
