Last week we had
the heads-up about MPI Home Video's
May 4th DVD releases for
The Honeymooners: Second Honeymoon and
The Honeymooners Valentine Special, a pair of post-series reunions that aired in 1976 and 1978, respectively. Now the studio has provided new details and cover art for each of these titles.
The Honeymooners: Second Honeymoon takes us to the day of the Kramden's 25th wedding anniversary, when Ralph plans to remarry Alice in a special ceremony at the Raccoon Lodge. However, the festivities become overshadowed when Ralph believes Alice is pregnant, and old pal Ed Norton begins to teach him how to take care of a baby. This special reunites Jackie Gleason and Art Carney with original co-star Audrey Meadows. It's never been released on VHS or DVD, and hasn't been seen in over thirty years. The release includes Bonus 1960s "
Color Honeymooners" sketches not seen since their original airings, and features New Digital Transfers from the Original Masters.
1978's
The Honeymooners Valentine Special also includes Audrey Meadows with Gleason and Carney, plus Jane Kean as "Trixie". In this production, Alice Kramden secretly plans to buy Ralph a suit for Valentine's Day. But Ralph thinks she's sizing him up for a coffin, after he finds some incriminating items, including a life-insurance policy. Believing Alice is seeing another man, Ralph gets pal Ed Norton to join him undercover...dressed in drag! This one has also been hidden away for thirty years, and is making a home video debut with New Digital Transfers from the Original Masters. And again, this DVD also includes Bonus 1960s "
Color Honeymooners" sketches not seen since their own original airings. Each 50-minute disc is sold separately, for $14.98 SRP per title.
