Back in mid-July we
reported that Method Films and distributor Genius Entertainment would be releasing
Iron Man: Armored Adventures - Volume 1 on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc formats, with both versions available on
October 20th (next Tuesday). A few weeks later, though, we
followed up with a report that the Blu-ray version had been taken off the schedule, with only the standard DVD version available to buy. That can be
pre-purchased at Amazon, or instead
through DVDEmpire or other retailers.
But the mystery of the Blu-ray Disc version has been solved, because one of our readers spotted something online: a scan of next week's sales circular for Best Buy. We would love to give credit to the person who posted it at a popular message board, but we don't want to possibly get any store associates in trouble for sneaking out a copy of the circular early, and then getting it posted online. We appreciate them, though, and also appreciate our reader, "Ross," for making us aware of the post.
Nevertheless, on the left we'll bring you this focused crop of the page in question, showing that the Blu-ray Disc release of
Iron Man: Armored Adventures - Volume 1 will be a Best Buy Exclusive, available starting on October 20th (next Tuesday; the same day as the general release for the DVD). The price at the Best Buy store which this copy of the circular came from is $16.99, but not all locations price items the same, so your mileage may vary. In any case, the title in Blu-ray Disc format is also
listed online at BestBuy.com, for the same price and release date, so you can also go that route if you prefer the high-def version.
We assume that this is exclusive to Best Buy for a limited time, and that after a while the Blu-ray version will be generally available through other sellers. If and when we get word about that general release, we'll let you know, so stay tuned.
