Yesterday we
reported that Ken Johnson - Executive Producer of
The Incredible Hulk - had said on his own website that the first season set would arrive in stores on
July 18th. He also says there that "
the box will include the movie pilot with a full length commentary by Kenny and an interview with Lou."
Since then, quite a few of our readers wrote in to point out that the 2003 DVD release
The Incredible Hulk - The Original Television Premiere had both a commentary track by Johnson on the pilot, plus a "special introduction" by Ferrigno. They got to wondering whether or not these extras on the new DVD set were simply going to be a recycling of the old bonus material.
We checked in with Ken Johnson himself, asking if this was new material on the upcoming season set. No, he says: it is not. "
It's the same stuff" was his precise reply. In fact, he's offered the folks at Universal some new supplemental material, such as a gag reel, but they haven't made any commitments to using it. Here's to hoping that they get on the stick with it, before the fans
Hulk out on them!
Also, to curb any confusion, the artwork at Johnson's site right now is NOT for the upcoming Season 1 set. It's for the last multi-disc set that was a "best of" release. We'll have the proper cover art for you when the studio makes that available...stay tuned!
