We have 4 updates for you Incredible Hulk fans with bits and pieces about the various upcoming releases:
Starting with the most minor item in the batch, Universal has updated the list of supplements for The Premiere Episode. It now includes, of all things, an excerpt from the novelization of the upcoming Ang Lee film. While that may be a "so what?" for many of you, it's notable that Universal is just packing this release with so many extras. Here's the full list so far:
- SPECIAL INTRODUCTION by "The Incredible Hulk" star Lou Ferrigno
- DVD Audio Commentary on both episodes by Director Kenneth Johnson
- Trailer for and sneak preview of the upcoming 2003 Ang Lee feature film, The Hulk (with a special look at ILM's groundbreaking special effects)
- "The Hulk" Interactive Game trailer
- Behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the award winning "Incredible Hulk" roller coaster at Universal Studios
- The Hulk Novelization Excerpt
- "See The Hulk movie for free" promotion: The first printing of this release will have a Coupon (good through July 6, 2003) to get a mail-in rebate for the entire cost of a movie ticket to see the new film.
There is also some updated cover art for this release, featuring some faded images of Banner and Hulk in the palm of the hand. It can be found at the bottom of this news, along with some menu shots.
To further promote this release, Universal has started up a contest to win some cash (or at least a DVD and videogame). In their own words: "Submit a Question for Lou Ferrigno of The Incredible Hulk and enter to win something green! Everything you wanted to know about THE INCREDIBLE HULK, but you were AFRAID to ask. Here's your chance! Ask Lou Ferrigno a question and be entered to win something GREEN. To celebrate the release of the Original 2 Hour Series Pilot of The Incredible Hulk DVD on 6.03.03 we are giving a fans a chance to ask Lou Ferrigno a question. Curious fans are entered to win a grand prize of $603 to spend at their favorite online retailer when they submit a question for Lou Ferrigno. 5 fans who have their questions answered by Lou Ferrigno will also win prize packs (includes a DVD & Hulk Video Game). Originality Counts! But whatever you do...DON'T MAKE HIM ANGRY! All questions must be submitted by MAY 11TH, 3pm EST. We cannot guarantee your question will be selected, but we can guarantee they will all be passed on to THE INCREDIBLE HULK for consideration! Submit your question at the bottom of this page."
Read up at the official contest site for complete information, plus rules and policies. The entry blanks to submit your question is at the bottom of that page, and TVShowsOnDVD.com is merely reporting on the contest, not sponsoring or participating in it.
Next up is news that Tony Zannikos pointed us to, which was posted the other day by Moderator "Keith" at the message board attached to Bryan's Hulk Page website. Keith was welcoming back to the board Ric Drasin, the uncredited actor who played the "Demi-Hulk" character in the Hulk Season 4 episode "Prometheus", and had this to say:
"Hi Ric!
Welcome back! Loved the article about you as the "Demi-Hulk" in the April issue of "Wiz Bang" magazine (which is still on newstands). Man, you got to do a love scene with Jenny Neumann (saw her in "V"). That would make my whole life :) .
In an email I received from Hulk producer Ken Johnson, he said that they may release "Prometheus" onto DVD later this year. If so, it would be really cool if there was a feature on it where Ken provides audio commentary over the entire episode (like he's doing in the upcoming DVD release of the Hulk Pilot and "Married" episodes). If that were to be the case, I'm sure you'd get plenty of mentions in the commentary by Ken!
Good luck in all your upcoming projects!
Keith
This makes sense to us, for several reasons: Universal will probably want a second DVD release to tie into the before-year's-end home video release of the new Ang Lee film; they have a second pilot telefilm ("Death In The Family") that is unused on the first DVD release which could easily be used for a second DVD release; both "Death In The Family" and "Prometheus" guest starred the same actress, Laurie Prange (who is best known for her many guest appearances on various television series in the 60s, 70s, and 80s); and - like Season 2's "Married" - the "Prometheus" story was a double-length season-starting episode as well (season four in this case), and it would probably make a great companion to "Death In The Family".
Finally today, we reported a week or so ago about the upcoming Fox release of The Death of The Incredible Hulk. DVDPlanet listed the release date of July 3rd for that, but it turns out to be an error (7/3 is a Thursday!). The actual release date, reported directly from Fox, is actually JUNE 3rd (the same date as Universal's release of The Premiere Episode). Below, along with the new cover art for the Universal release, is the cover art and keepcase insert for Fox's Death of... release:
