About a month ago we
had the scoop about Universal's
October 21st release date for
The Incredible Hulk - Season 5 and
The Incredible Hulk - The Complete Series on DVD. We're still waiting on the studio to officially announce these titles, but we've learned about the contents of the 5th Season set (which naturally will also be included on the bigger box set, too).
The Incredible Hulk - Season 5 will come on 2 DVDs with all 7 episodes from the show's final season, which was cut short suddenly - despite good ratings - when a network exec decided it was time for a change. The episodes, starring Bill Bixby as the too-smart-for-his-own-good scientist and Lou Ferrigno as the big mean green guy, will consist of "The Phenom," "Two Godmothers," "Veteran," "Sanctuary," "Triangle," "Slaves" and "A Minor Problem". Guest stars include Anne Lockhart (
Battlestar Galactica), Brett Cullen (
Lost), Ken Swofford (
Switch, Fame), Dick O'Neill (
Cagney & Lacey), Sandra Kerns (
Charles in Charge), James Saito (
Eli Stone), Diana Muldaur (
Star Trek: The Next Generation), Edie McClurg (
Ferris Bueller's Day Off), Jerry Hardin (
The X-Files), Mickey Jones (
V), Faye Grant (
V) and Xander Berkeley (
24).
Running time on this 2-disc set is 5 hours 39 minutes, with episodes presented in the original full-frame video and with English mono audio. Subtitles will be in English, French and Spanish. In addition, there will be some new supplements on this release, including a featurette called "Behind the Success: The Story of
The Incredible Hulk". The other extra found on the second disc? The long-awaited Gag Reel, which we've been
talking about since the first season set was announced two years ago!
Pricing wasn't provided to our source in regards to the Season 5 two-disc set. But we *have* learned that those two discs will make up the 19th and 20th discs in the release of
The Incredible Hulk - The Complete Series, coming out the same day (October 21st). The cost of the big package, which will come in "Collectible Hulk Packaging," will be $139.98 SRP we're told.
Please bear in mind that none of this has been officially announced by the studio, so take everything with a grain of salt. We'll update you when Universal makes a formal announcement, and we'll bring you cover art for both of these releases just as soon as we can. But remember...you heard it here first!
UPDATE (8/16, A.M.): This morning we see that overnight Amazon has added pre-order listings for both of these titles! It confirms again the Oct. 21st release date for both of them, and provides pricing as well for each (apparently the big box is just a bit more on the list price than we had been told). Please remember that those pre-order prices are Amazon's, and are current only as of the writing of
this update. They are subject to change without notice. The listings don't add any other info, nor package art, but the fact that they are there probably means that the official studio announcements aren't too far off. In the meantime, our friend Tom Woodward of DVDActive.com has helped us to obtain the small look at the
