A&E has announced plans to release the Complete Homicide
gift set. The set includes all 122 episodes of the series, 3 Law & Order
crossover episodes, and the movie, Homicide: The Movie
. The 35 disc set will sell for $299.95 US, or $379.95 CAN, when it's released on November 14
. The set comes in a special "File Cabinet" package. Nice!
We expect a few fans to be annoyed with A&E for including the crossover episodes in this set, but not on the initial releases. A&E tried to trade episode-for-episode with Universal so the Law & Order
crossovers ("Charm City," "Baby It’s You," and "Sideshow") could be included in the season sets, but a deal couldn't be worked out. They weren't holding onto these for a big box set; something must have changed since the intial sets were released (maybe Universal realized they'll need the Homicide
episodes for their L&O
Considered the most realistic cop drama ever aired, Homicide: Life on the Street gives viewers a unique cops'-eye view of one of the most challenging jobs imaginable.
Created by Writer/Director Tom Fontana (St. Elsewhere, OZ) and Executive Producer Barry Levinson (The Perfect Storm, Oz) and based on David Simon's (The Wire) book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, HOMICIDE features TV's most powerful ensemble cast, including Richard Belzer (Law and Order: Special Victims Unit), Emmy-winner Andre Braugher (Thief, Frequency), Yaphet Kotto (Alien), and Ned Beatty (Deliverance) with guest appearances from James Earl Jones, Robin Williams, Steve Buscemi, Peter Gallagher, Chris Rock, Wilford Brimley, and other star actors.
HOMICIDE garnered two Emmy Awards, three Peabody Awards, three Television Critics Awards, two Writers Guild Awards, and was named to TV Guide's "The Greatest Episodes in TV History" and "TV's Greatest Characters" lists.
Here, for the first time ever, one of television's crowning achievements is available in its entirety on 35 DVDs and includes all 122 episodes spanning seven critically acclaimed seasons, the three Law & Order crossover episodes, and Homicide: The Movie.
