We already know, thanks to a February issue of Video Business trade magazine, that Homicide: Life on the Street - Season 7 (the final season) will arrive in stores on June 28th, at a $99.95 SRP. Now we have the official announcement and box art for this:
Crime and punishment direct from the streets of Baltimore. Powerful, darkly humorous, and always original, this final season brings an explosive end to one of the edgiest police dramas ever to hit television--HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET.

A critical darling during its groundbreaking run, HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET features authentic Maryland locations, storylines based on real-life cases, and a caliber of acting and camerawork rarely found on the small screen. Top-notch guest directors like Brad Anderson (The Machinist), Lisa Cholodenko (Laurel Canyon), and Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl) deliver consistently riveting episodes, and the killer soundtrack features contemporary music's most creative artists (Beck, Ani DiFranco, John Hiatt, and Missy Elliott).

Executive produced by Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Diner) and Tom Fontana (OZ, St. Elsewhere) and created by Paul Attanasio (Gideon's Crossing, Quiz Show), the seventh season of HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET won the Humanitas Prize and International Monitor Award. On DVD for the first time, this collection features all 22 episodes from the final season of the Emmy and Peabody award-winning series.

The sell sheet for this release shows these bonus features:
  • Live Panel Discussion with Tom Fontana, Barry Levinson, James Yoshimura, and David Simon
  • Barry Levinson's Acceptance Speech for the 2004 Video Software Dealers Association Career Achievement Award
  • Commentary with Tom Fontana, Julie Martin, and James Yoshimura on the Episode "Forgive Us Our Trespasses"
  • Cast Biographies

This is a 6-DVD set running 1056 minutes, and as we said the cost is $99.95 SRP (CAN$109.95 in Canada). In our previous news story, we mentioned that it was unknown whether the release would include the 2000 telefilm, Homicide: The Movie, which was already released to DVD back in 2001 by Trimark Pictures. We don't find any mention of it in A&E's sales information for the 7th Season set. The only content mentioned are the 22 episodes from the 1998-99 season plus the bonus content named above. Fortunately, the Trimark telefilm release on DVD is still available, and now lists for only $14.99 (it can be gotten for $10 at DVDPlanet.com).

Fans of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will enjoy the Homicide: Life on the Street - Season 7 release, as they see the series end with Detective Munch's marriage (complete with honeymoon) before Richard Belz moved his role over to the new series.
