Yesterday we had the
press release and
cover art for a May release of Disney's
Dinosaurs program, and that seemed to be a trigger for some of our industry insider sources to come forward with other information about upcoming Disney TV-DVD releases. One of them is a
Summer release of
Home Improvement - The Complete 4th Season.
That "Summer" info has been found on other sites around the 'net for a couple of months now, and Disney has tentatively confirmed that timeframe (noting, as always, that things are subject to change) but provided nothing more exact than that. We've had lots of fans e-mail us to let us know what's posted elsewhere, but we've held off passing that on because we wanted to wait until we had something more specific. Well, now we do! Our insider sources are pinning it down to
a probable late May/early June timeframe for this 3-DVD release. It still could move, but if you look at the pattern of previous releases for this series (11/2004, 6/2005, 11/2005), then this seems right on-target.
Nothing is certain, though. We'll remind readers that a couple of Tuesdays ago (Jan. 10th) was *supposed* to see the release of a trio of Disney TV-DVD sets:
Boy Meets World - Season 4, Once & Again - Season 3 and
Beggars & Choosers - Season 1. All were announced and we had box art for two of them and there were pre-order listings at online retailers and everything...and then Disney pulled the plug. We've heard different reasons given, but the most common one was that the schedule change was related to marketing reasons. As of this past week we spoke to Disney and confirmed that
none of those three were back on the schedule yet. So when we give early notice of a timeframe for
Home Improvement - Season 4, we just want to caution readers that anything can change at any time. But for right now, the fourth season with Tim the Tool Man is looking good. Stay tuned for further updates!
