After an
unfortunate delay from a pencilled-in Oct. 12, 2004 release date, fans of
Hogan's Heroes have waited patiently for Paramount to add it back onto their schedule. A few weeks ago we
passed along a rumor from our friends at TheDigitalBits.com that
Hogan's Heroes - The Complete 1st Season was re-pencilled-in for a mid-March release in 2005.
Yesterday, Paramount Home Entertainment confirmed the rumored date of
March 15th, stating that the Season 1 compilation starring Bob Crane, Werner Klemperer, and
Family Feud's Richard Dawson would contain 882 minutes of hilarity on a 5-DVD set. Look for 32 half-hour episodes (including the original black-and-white pilot episode) from the prisoners of Stalag 13, where the loonies really do run the asylum! Here is the studio's official synopsis and a look at the package:
The inmates of a German World War II Prisoners of War camp conduct an espionage and sabotage campaign right under the noses of their warders. While the enemy is often gullible, easily fooled or downright incompetent - the real strength of Hogan's men are the elaborate ruses and sometimes dangerous lengths they will go to complete their mission.
