Back in March we
reported that MGM would release
Highway Patrol - Season 1 on DVD exclusively through Amazon's manufacture-on-demand (MOD) program called CreateSpace. The show, starring Broderick Crawford, had 39 episodes in that first season. At the time of our earlier report, the Amazon entry for the title showed cover art that mentioned a 10-disc set, but the listing gave no price or availability date. Now we thank reader John Patamisi, who's alerted us that this MOD title has finally begun shipping from the big e-tailer as of this past Wednesday (August 11th), and that the cost is $59.99 SRP (but Amazon is, at least at the time of this writing, discounting it to 53.99). Also, as you can see by the revised cover art shown below, the disc count has been upped to 11 DVDs in this set. Even without the current discount at Amazon, that would work out to five bucks a disc (or around a buck-and-a-half per episode), which isn't too bad at all for a manufacture-on-demand TV title. Fans will want to jump on it!
