This past November we
reported that LegendaryHeroes.com, the official online store for Davis Merchandising and Davis-Panzer Productions, had begun
taking pre-orders for a high-definition Blu-ray Disc release of
Highlander: The Series - Season 1.
As we told you at the time, the listing had originally shown a release date of "February 2008"...nine months prior to the report! Our contacts at Legendary Heroes told us that it was actually supposed to say "February 2009," and explained that even that was optimistic. They realistically told us that "Late Summer/Early Fall" would probably be more like it.
While the bottom of the release listing there currently says "Anticipated Release Date: February 15, 2009" (having adjusted the "2008" thing after our previous report went up), the top portion of the listing has now been changed to advise fans that the
Highlander: The Series - Season 1 on Blu-ray will now actually be shipping
in 2010. They also make if very clear to purchasers that "
Pre-Orders will be honored for the 2010 slated release." At this time, they've stopped taking pre-orders for the moment (probably due to the delay), but if you've already placed one then they're planning to honor it.
The release listing also now has added the fact that there will be "
New, never before seen special bonus features created exclusively for this Blu-ray collection!" Don't forget, too, that the first 1000 orders that had been placed will receive a free bonus Katana Mini-Sword, of the type Duncan (Adrian Paul) wields. Our thanks to reader Marc Levy for the heads-up about the new info at that release listing. Stay tuned for updates, including a specific ship date and the cover art, whenever they become available.
