At the end of last month we
had the scoop about
Highlander: The Series - Season 1 on high-def Blu-ray Disc, including all the bonus material that will be included on this upcoming 4-BD set. Davis-Panzer has been working hard, not only on this Blu-ray title, but others as well (such as bonus material planned to go with Lionsgate's Blu-ray releases of the first two
Highlander films, which whill be in stores for the second half of next year, tying in with the theatrical debut of Summit's planned remake film).
Nevertheless, Davis-Panzer has found time to pull together one additional new extra for the Blu-ray Disc version of
Highlander: The Series - Season 1, and we've gotten word about it from them today! The never-before-seen bonus feature is "Creative Team Interviews," and includes chats with Production Designer Steve Geaghan, Re-Recording Mixer Chris Ainscough, Editor Lara Mazur, Composer Roger Bellon and Costume Designer Cristina McQuarrie. Last week we brought you
updated package art, interior and exterior, that listed the contents of this release. Needless to say, Davis-Panzer is updating it slightly once more, to account for adding this new extra onto the list!
And speaking of extras, Davis-Panzer has asked us to clarify something about one of the special features. The BD Touch feature requires a "Profile 2.0" level Blu-ray Disc Player, capable of using BD-Live functions. If you're not sure about whether your player has this capability, please check with your player's manufacturer. A number of players which aren't currently at the Profile 2.0 level of function could possibly gain that, via a firmware upgrade (which the manufacturer can supply, if it's available). Just be aware of it, please. You'll also need a smart phone. The studio tells us that at this exact moment, only iPhones and iPod Touches have this ability, but in about a month the rest of the smart phone world should be able to come on board.
Finally, Davis-Panzer tells us that "
there was an issue with getting the German tracks up, so the date has been pushed back a week." Since the previous availability date was to have been September 15th, that must mean that the new date will be
September 22nd. Please adjust your plans accordingly! Remember, this won't be in stores, or available via Amazon or other online retailers. It's
exclusively available from LegendaryHeroes.com, which is Davis-Panzer's website. Here's another look at the most recent version of the outer package art, just to whet your appetites further:
