A week ago we
reported on Universal's
August 26th releases of
Heroes - Season 1 on Blu-ray Disc, and
Heroes - Season 2 on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc. At that time we told you about some really great-sounding prices on these three releases, but now we have word from the studio that there was a misunderstanding with that.
We've been informed by Universal that the pricing info we reported in our earlier story was not actually the suggested list prices of these three sets. The prices we gave turn out to be the discounted costs that the studio makes available to consumers via offers at their online store. The actual costs of the 2nd Season releases, on both formats, were accurately shown when we posted
Universal's press release. But we'll go over all three of these again, just to be certain our readers have the correct info:
- Heroes - Season 1 for Blu-ray was reported to be $79.98; the actual list price is $99.98 SRP.
- Heroes - Season 2 for DVD was reported to be $29.98; the actual list price is $39.98 SRP.
- Heroes - Season 2 for Blu-ray was reported to be $49.98; the actual list price is $69.98 SRP.
TVShowsOnDVD certainly regrets the confusion. Don't forget, though, that these are only the list prices, and that the actual "street" price at most retailers will bring these costs back down into the originally reported price range. For example, DVDEmpire is
pre-selling the Season 2 DVD set for $31.79 as of this writing. DVDEmpire hasn't listed the Blu-ray versions yet, and Amazon hasn't listed any of the three packages just yet. When they do, we expect these to be very competitively discounted there.
