Here's Lucy - Season 4 Rumors are Going Around. We Asked MPI, and We're Told...

Don't look for Here's Lucy - Season 4 until 2011, according to our studio contact

Rumors have been flying around the internet for the past couple of weeks, saying that MPI will release Here's Lucy - Season 4 on DVD before the end of the year. "November" is the month that gets mentioned most frequently. Our thanks to various of our readers, starting with Adam Baxter, for filling us in on this gossip a few days ago. Naturally, we've checked directly with our contacts at MPI about this. We were informed by our contact at the studio that this title is NOT going to be available in 2010. Right now the title is projected for probable release in the first quarter of 2011 (but that could still possibly move).

The speculation is that perhaps the rumor-mongers have gotten things mixed up here, because MPI is actually working on DVDs with Lucille Ball for December 2010. It's not the sort of title we normally report on here at TVShowsOnDVD, because we stick to multi-episode programs and not the "single-episode" specials or telefilms (unless, of course, they are directly connected to an on going series, like a pilot or a reunion film...these two productions don't fall under those categories). But to clear things up, we'll mention that the upcoming 2010 MPI DVDs for their Lucille Ball line-up will be a double-feature of specials Lucy starred in (both with Art Carney of The Honeymooners) back in 1974 and 1976: "Happy Anniversary and Goodbye" and "What Now, Catherine Curtis?"

The rumors also talk about a CBS/Paramount release for the third season of The Lucy Show, and we've been unable to get anything official about that title, either. Our industry contacts feel that it might actually be closer to an announcement, however, than the next season set for Here's Lucy. I think that's all we want to say right now, because we don't want to post something and then turn out to be wrong. We're keeping our eyes peeled, of course, for further developments on all of this. Stay tuned!
