Last week we
reported that
Here's Lucy - Season 1 had been scheduled for release on DVD by MPI Home Video on
August 25th. That story included an early look at the front cover art of the 4-disc package, but now the studio has sent us a picture of the finalized box cover, that you can see below. The key artwork is the same, but the big blue "balloons" have been eliminated, and the text from them have been tastefully moved to other areas on the front.
MPI also informs us that the 24 episodes included on this set, from the 1968-69 season, are uncut and digitally remastered "direct from the original 35mm color negatives, for stunning quality." They are also working on "loads" of new bonus material to include on this release, but it will be a few weeks before they have a finalized list of those extras. They did reveal, however, that these will include new videotaped interviews, and introductions, with Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz, Jr.
While the studio hasn't directly given us anything else about those supplements, our retail sources have leaked to us that among the other extras we might be seeing are Featurettes, Screen Tests, Promos and possibly Home Movies. Take all of that with a grain of salt for now, though: like we said, the studio tells us that the list of bonuses on this release has not been finalized at this time. Stay tuned, however, and we'll update you as soon as we know more!
