The new guys on the block, TV-on-DVD wise, are TGG Direct, and after a couple of delays they released on January 29th a number of titles that included 2 seasons of
Bat Masterson, all 4 seasons of Lloyd Bridges in
Sea Hunt, and the first and last seasons of
The Young Riders. What's next?
This past summer one of TGG's earliest titles was the first season of
In the Heat of the Night, starring Carroll O'Connor, Howard E. Rollins Jr. and Anne-Marie Johnson. That premiere season was very short, consisting of a full-length pilot and six regular episodes. The 2nd through 7th seasons each consisted of at least 21 episodes, usually including at least one double-length episode at some point during the season. The last season, though, consisted of 4 full-length telefilms, and TGG is jumping straight there for the next DVD.
Amazon's pre-order listing says
April 16th, but a phone call we made to TGG today informs us that
In the Heat of the Night - Season 8: The Final Season will probably be out on April 2nd, the same day as their other spring TV-DVD titles. The 4-disc set will cost $24.96, Episodes consist of "Who Is Geli Bendl?," "By Duty Bound," "A Matter Of Justice" and "Grow Old ALong With Me." Box art isn't available yet, but stay tuned.
