Amazon has now added
a pre-order listing for a DVD set they currently show with the title of "
Head Case: Season 1 Vol 2".
Depending on which unofficial web site you go to, the ten episodes of the Starz channel series
Head Case - produced/written/starring Alexandra Wentworth (
In Living Color) - which aired this past March through May ("The Wedding Ringer" through "The Big Book") are either the second or third season of the show. Why the confusion (which struck us here, too, at first)? During the period of April to June 2007, there were 10 interstitials, each 12 minutes long, that debuted once per week. Many fans consider that to be "season one" of the program, and the 8 full episodes (25 minutes each) that ran from January to March 2008 are called "season two" by the same fans.
However, according to our discussion with the studio itself, the folks at Starz/Anchor Bay consider the interstitials to be just that: interstitials, and don't count them as part of any season. That's probably why these stories (from "Goode Morning" to "Baked Goodes") are described as "bonus shorts," and placed on Disc 2 of
the Head Case - Season 1 set released this past March. We've been told the 8 episodes on Disc 1 of that set ("Live And Let Diet" through "Dreading Bells") are what the studio refers to as the first part of season 1. But yes, it's probably best to watch those interstitials first, as they contain story elements which are continued in the first regular season of the program.
The next release, "Season 1, Volume 2" is
now up for sale at Amazon.com, consisting of the ten 2009-aired episodes (starting with "The Wedding Ringer"), and will be available on
February 2nd. Amazon's listing mentions that the disc will include 300 minutes, selling for a suggested price of $19.97. Stay tuned for updates once Anchor Bay/Starz officially announces the release!
CORRECTION (11/17): We've updated this story to reflect information obtained from studio reps, and removed some incorrect assumptions we had initially posted. This is one show where the unofficial episode guides have gotten things very, very wrong, and the studio has now set things straight. The end result is that the episodes airing from March-May 2009 will be on DVD in February, 2010.
