Last week we
relayed a report from the folks at He-Man.org, that the 2002 version of
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe had been licensed to a studio for release on DVD. Mattel told them that it was going to be formally announced at the San Diego Comic Con, in a special panel taking place on Saturday, July 28th from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. In Room 10, if you're fortunate enough to be able to go!
Which studio is going to be putting this release out? It appears to be BCI, the same great folks who made so many terrific DVD sets for the original
He-Man series, as well as the
She-Ra and
New Adventures of He-Man shows. Yesterday we got an e-mail from one of our readers, "Alex E." (thanks!), sending us an event sheet advertisement from BCI for the studio. Alex didn't say where he got this from, but we suspect he might have found it
at Andy Mangels website. Our good friend Andy produces the extras for many of the releases at BCI for this sort of show, including all the previous
He-Man shows. Andy tells us he was given the okay by BCI to post that one-sheet, which you see below. Although Andy had "no comment" about the lower right corner of that sheet, it plainly shows that BCI is talking up a Special Announcement at the Comic Con, showing some
He-Man graphics that are "(c) 2002 Mattel, Inc." Seems like a dead giveaway, eh?
Looking at the sheet (which you can see a bit larger at Andy's site), it looks like BCI's booth will most certainly be a great place to visit at the San Diego Comic Con! Not only for the special announcement regarding
He-Man, but also for cool visitors from the cast of the already-out
Jason of Star Command DVD and the forthcoming
The Secrets of Isis DVD, both of which are cast people who rarely (if ever) make appearances at cons, but who want to turn out and help BCI promote these DVDs. Be sure to say hi to them, and to Andy as well.
