Debuts on DVD on May 27, 2008

New Hope, MN (April 2, 2008) - BCI Entertainment announces the DVD release of HE-MAN and the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Volume 2. This follow-up to the best-selling Volume 1 continues the adventure with the next 13 episodes of the Emmy-Award winning 2002 revival of the classic '80s cartoon. The second of three planned volumes, HE-MAN and the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Volume 2 will debut on May 27, 2008 on a 3-disc set. In addition to 13 new-to-DVD episodes of the series, the DVD set will include numerous special features, including commentary tracks and interviews for an SRP of $26.98.

Launched as a line of action figures by Mattel in the 1980s, the popularity of HE-MAN and the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE led to the original syndicated HE-MAN cartoon series. This 2002 revival captured the themes and excitement of the original, while incorporating a fresh spin that entertained early enthusiasts of HE-MAN and welcomed a new generation of fans. Produced for the Cartoon Network, HE-MAN and the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE ran through 2004 and won a 2004 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing.

Special features on the HE-MAN and the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Volume 2 DVD include the original "Morals" segment for each episode (never seen on the Cartoon Network), the never before seen Villains Sketch Gallery, audio commentary on three episodes with director Gary Hartle, story editor Dean Stefan and writer Steve Melching, moderated by Ian Richter, scripts for episodes 14 through 26, and more.

SYNOPSIS
HE-MAN and the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE focuses on the early adventures of Prince Adam, who, having just become Eternia's most powerful guardian He-Man, had to learn how to handle his new powers and lead his allies into battle against the evil Skeletor. With the aid of his own Evil Warrior Henchmen, Skeletor schemes to blanket Eternia in chaos, and rule over the planet in dominion. Only He-Man, guided and advised by the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, stands in his way.

  • The original "Morals" segment for each episode
