Iconic Police Drama Debuts On DVD March 6, 2007 With All 24 Original Episodes Including The Two-Hour Pilot Movie "Cocoon"
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - One of the most successful crime dramas ever televised makes its long-anticipated DVD debut when HAWAII FIVE-O The First Season arrives as a seven-disc set on March 6, 2007 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. For 20 years HAWAII FIVE-O held the record for longest running police drama, having been broadcast for 12 years from 1968-1980. Filmed entirely on location in Hawaii, the show was known for its intelligent writing, intriguing plots, hard-bitten characters and, of course, its iconic theme music. The show starred Jack Lord as Detective Steve McGarrett, head of an elite state police unit, James MacArthur as his second-in-command Danny ("Danno") Williams, Kam Fong as Detective Chin Ho Kelly, Zulu as Detective Kono Kalakaua, Al Harrington as Detective Ben Kokua, and Herman Wedemeyer as Edward D. "Duke" Lukela. The series also featured a host of guest stars including Ricardo Montalban and Leslie Nielsen as the Five-O team investigated organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents and felonies of every type. The HAWAII FIVE-O The First Season seven-disc set includes all 24 original episodes including the two-hour pilot movie "Cocoon" plus "Emme's Island Moments: Memories of Hawaii Five-O," a 45-minute retrospective co-hosted by Emme Tomimbang and James MacArthur that includes interviews with cast members, clips from the show and footage from a 1996 reunion. The DVD set will be available for the suggested retail price of $54.99 U.S./$62.99 Canada.
