With the 13th and final episode coming up this weekend, star Christopher Gorham has been busy today explaining at his Twitter account that the show wasn't "canceled". It was planned all along, by the studio and the network, as a single-season production, with a beginning and an end for a mystery/horror story (so perhaps it would help viewers to simply think of it as a 13-part mini-series, when it comes right down to it).
With that in mind, the package art for the home video release was circulated by CBS/Paramount today, and it does not refer to the 4-disc, 541-minute set as a "season one" or a "complete series" or anything traditional. Rather, it proclaims this
September 8th release simply as "
Harper's Island - The DVD Edition". I must say, I rather like that! And we've filled you in on
bonus material plans for this title last week, and specs and other info was included in our
original story, so this cover art ought to just about, well, cover it!
