Two months ago CBS/Paramount
announced a new line-up of DVDs, aimed at taking advantage of the fact that in this downturned economy the low-cost single-disc "best of" releases sell at least as well, if not better, then many higher-priced multi-disc season sets of older shows (which big-name retail chains are resisting stocking on their shelves more and more!). The new line-up of "
Fan Favorites" were based on polls conducted at Facebook, and on
March 6th (just a few weeks away) there will be single-disc $14.98 SRP releases for
The Honeymooners, Happy Days, Cheers, Frasier, The Odd Couple, Hogan's Heroes and
MacGyver.
Of those seven shows, six of them are complete on DVD, so the
Happy Days disc is garnering the most attention because only 4 of its 11 seasons have seen release on DVD so far! The hold-up on the remaining broadcast years, of course, is music rights issues (primarily the cost of the high-profile tunes used in every episode). So we've gotten a number of emails from fans asking which episodes will be included on the upcoming
Happy Days - The Best of Fan Favorites DVD, to see if there was anything new. The answer is no, sorry, but all 8 episodes will be from Seasons 1, 2 and 3. Here's what you'll get:

- Haunted (Season 2)
- Guess Who's Coming To Christmas (Season 2)
- Richie's Flip Side (Season 2)
- Fonzie Moves In (Season 3 premiere)
- The Motorcycle (Season 3)
- They Call It Potsie Love (Season 3)
