Just the other day Warner Home Video
announced that
Two and a Half Men - The Complete 5th Season will be coming to DVD on
May 12th. At the time we talked extensively about the show's crossover with
C.S.I., and how the writers of each of those CBS Network series change shows for an episode, with
Men writers putting together the
C.S.I. story titled "Two and a Half Deaths" (which included cameos by
Men stars Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones). Our opinion at the time was that it would probably not get included among the extras on the 5th Season release.
Why not? Because the reciprocal
Men episode, "Fish in a Drawer" (scripted by the
C.S.I. writing team, and guest-starring
C.S.I. cast member George Eads) had not appeared on last October's CBS/Paramount release of
C.S.I. - Season 8 on DVD. It would be rare for two studios to work out a deal to crossover events like this one to appear on one show's DVD set, but not the other show's. But this is the exception that proves the rule, apparently, because rear package art has arrived for
Two and a Half Men - The Complete 5th Season. And it shows that the
C.S.I. episode will be included. Not only that, but there will be a Featurette (appropriately titled "Dying Is Easy, Comedy Is Hard") which chronicles the famous crossover event!
The back of the box, seen below, also shows that there will also be a "
Two and a Half Men at 100" Featurette (marking the show's 100-episode anniversary), and another Featurette titled "The Lore of Chuck Lorre: Must Pause TV." To quote the text on the box, the latter discusses the genesis and evolution of his vanity cards at the end of each episode. This is one I'll look forward to, as some of those cards are doozies (in a good way)! What fans will probably notice is missing from this list of extras, though, is the gag reel which has been on every previous season set. No word on why that didn't make it this time, but we can be satisfied in knowing that Warner provided us with some other great material, including applauding them for including the
C.S.I. crossover on this 3-disc set. Glad to see it!
